Homestead High School Drama Club

by: Sarah Viera

About this fundraiser The Homestead High School Drama Club is raising funds to help further student's skills and interest in theatre! It is through the generosity of our community and local businesses that our theater program is able to thrive. Donations are used to purchase technical theater equipment, costumes, and scripts, and go on trips to local theaters. Students are able to learn about all aspects of theater production from lighting to acting to directing. Do you own a business? Promote it in our playbill for the season! Check out the sponsor opportunities below! Homestead’s theater program brings in crowds from not only our own community but surrounding areas. AVID 11 Field Trip Image

AVID 11 Field Trip

by: Sarah Viera

Every year the AVID 11 class takes an annual field trip that serves as a vital component of our college readiness program. This trip provides us with the invaluable opportunity to explore college campuses, interact with the college faculty and students, and gain insight into the possibilities that await us and higher education. It's a day filled with inspiration and motivation that can shape the course of our future. This year, we are planning an enriching field trip to UW-Green Bay and St. Norbert's College. At these two colleges, we will have the chance to engage with campus life, learn about academic programs, and envision our future possibilities. This experience is instrumental in fostering a college-going culture within our AVID program. To ensure the success of this field trip we are seeking donations to cover essential expenses such as: Coach Bus Transportation: The cost of renting a coach bus is one of our largest expenses. It ensures that we travel safely and comfortably. Lunch: Providing a nutritious meal during the trip is essential to keep us energized and focused on our learning experiences. Any contribution no matter the size is greatly appreciated and will make a meaningful impact on our educational journey. As an AVID class, we firmly believe that investing in education is an investment in the future of our community. Thank you for considering our request and for your continued support of education in our community!

Middle School Band 2023-24 Commission Project Image

Middle School Band 2023-24 Commission Project

by: Sarah Viera

In early 2023, the MTSD middle school bands commissioned Tyler S. Grant to compose a piece for our 7th & 8th Grade Band. This piece will receive its world premiere in the James Barr Performing Arts Center on Thursday, May 16th. In preparation for this performance, and to engage students in the compositional process, Tyler will be meeting virtually with our 7th & 8th Grade Band throughout this school year. We are extremely excited about this opportunity since our students always enjoy learning and performing Tyler’s music. The piece that he will compose for us will be distributed and performed worldwide Tyler is a talented Atlanta-based composer whose first published work was a piece that he wrote for his middle school band when he was only 13 years old. In fact, we programmed that piece as soon as it was released back in 2009, and our Sixth Grade Band performed it again last spring. Still in his 20s, Tyler has an impressive catalog of works for bands, and he continues to compose high-quality literature for young bands like ours. His music is featured regularly in performances by both region and all-state honor ensembles and is also featured annually on Editor’s or Publisher’s Choice Repertoire Lists around the world. His work, Panoramic Fanfare, was a winner of the Dallas Wind Symphony’s 2014 “Call for Fanfares” Competition and he was recently recognized by JW Pepper as one of "3 Outstanding Composers to Keep Your Eye On.” We have already received great support. Donors will be recognized in the MTSD Middle School Band concert programs this year.
