We are in the 21st year of our school-organized fundraiser, Season of Sharing (formerly Community Candles). Season of Sharing is a long-standing program sponsored by Lincoln’s Academic and Career Planning Center. It raises funds to provide gifts to Lincoln students whose families are experiencing financial difficulties that impact their ability to give holiday gifts in their homes. For any donation of $25 or more, your or your group's name will be displayed on our donor wall in a student gathering space inside Lincoln High School. For every $25 increment donation, your name will be on display ex: $50.00 = 2, $100= 4, etc. We appreciate the support from Lincoln sports teams, clubs, organizations, as well as LHS staff, WRPS staff and community members. If you have any questions, please email elizabeth.king@wrps.net. Thank you for your support!

Community Candles is a Lincoln High School program that has been providing support to LHS families during the holiday season for the past 19 years. LHS students who live in households experiencing financial challenges are given a small gift so they can still enjoy receiving a gift during the holiday season. Last year’s campaign raised enough funds to provide a holiday gift to 82 LHS students! Historically, LHS student clubs, teams, and faculty have donated all of the funds to make this program possible. Because of the pandemic in 2020, we adjusted the fundraiser to an online format and reached out to the community for help. With last year’s great success, thanks to the generosity of our school and community, we are hoping to reach our fundraising goal again this year, but we need your help! This year’s goal is to raise $2,500.00 in just 7 days! For any donation of $25 or more, a candle with the donor's name will be on display in the student gathering space inside Lincoln High School. A candle for each $25 increment donation will be put on display. $50.00 = 2 candles, $100= 4 candles, etc. If you have any questions, please email elizabeth.king@wrps.net. Thank you for your support!

Wisconsin Rapids Public Schools completed an assessment of their existing athletics facilities. The study showed that improvements would not only help with school district programming but also community user groups’ programming. The project’s focus includes collaborating with the community user groups and other schools by creating a local economic impact and a plan for sustainability. Community user group involvement in planning for this project has been in the works for several years. Due to an extremely generous grant from the Legacy Foundation, in-kind contributions, and monetary donations, this project is moving forward with an anticipated groundbreaking date of 4/15/2021. The project includes two baseball diamonds, two softball diamonds, and a concession stand/restrooms (quadplex). Estimated construction costs of the Baseball/Softball quadplex with all artificial turn and associated facilities is around $7.3 million with a significant portion of that amount already covered by the Legacy Foundation grant as well as in-kind contributions. This project is to be funded almost entirely through the Legacy Foundation grant, in-kind contributions, and additional monetary donations including naming rights opportunities. The District, with the assistance of the Legacy Foundation, invested around $20,000.00 for the site preparation and plan development. There is also a significant need for the District to replace its existing track due to its age and condition; the track itself is over 20 years old and is rapidly nearing the end of its usable life. The Board of Education has committed to replacing the current track at a cost of around $700,000. In discussing the LHS grounds, quadplex development, and track through community conversations, a very generous donor has approached the District with a matching grant opportunity to turf the football field while the track is being reconstructed. This donation will almost certainly ensure that South Wood County stadium includes a newly reconstructed track as well as a turf football/ soccer field in the near future. The estimated costs of adding turf to SWC 2000 stadium $1 million with approximately 75% of that covered through the matching donation referenced. District contributions for this project will be limited to the track reconstruction as the track has to be redone as it is near the end of its usable life. The District has had plans to reconstruct the track prior to being approached about adding turf to the football field. Wisconsin Rapids Public Schools will continue to be a pillar of stability in our community as it owns, maintains and manages the facility for all to enjoy. A fundraising capital campaign is in progress to cover costs to meet project goals. All members of the community are welcome to participate through a variety of opportunities to donate. Donation recognition will be acknowledged through naming right opportunities and various donor levels. See below how you can help support this exciting addition to our community!! Craig G.
