We come together with heavy hearts and a shared sense of purpose to honor the memory of Reed Ryan, a beloved member of our school and football program. Reed tragically passed away due to sudden cardiac arrest in November 2023 during an off-season training session while attending the University of Minnesota Duluth. While our facilities currently have some AEDs in place, we believe that increasing their number is crucial in minimizing precious time lost during emergencies. To that end, we’re launching a fundraiser to equip our community athletic facilities with additional Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) - life-saving devices that could prevent such a tragedy from happening again. Sudden cardiac arrest is an unpredictable and devastating event. However, with immediate intervention, lives can be saved. AEDs are essential tools that can make the difference between life and death. Our goal is to ensure these devices are readily accessible throughout our district's athletic facilities. By expanding access to AEDs, we are not only safeguarding the lives of our students, staff, and visitors but also creating a lasting legacy for Reed. We humbly ask for your support in this important initiative. Your contribution, no matter the size, will help us achieve our goal of providing the necessary equipment to protect our school community. Together, we can transform this heartbreaking loss into a beacon of hope, making our school a safer place for all. Thank you for your generosity and commitment to making a difference in the memory of Reed.

The Waunakee Middle School Dance Team is moving on UP! Our program began in 2019 with 12 dancers, and we’ve quickly grown in size to where we will be splitting UP into two teams this year! We are pumped UP to offer this extracurricular activity where middle schoolers can express themselves, make new friends, be part of a team, and build confidence. We rely on our sUPer dance families and friends for funding which goes towards: - UPkeep: Poms, music-cutting, choreography, competition fees, recognition, etc. - Switching it UP: The school district introduced new branding last year which requires us to get new pom outfits. - Party UP: Did we mention we like to have fun? We also use funds for team bonding events, a holiday party, and end of season celebration. Please help us keep UP the good work: Fundraising for these team costs offsets the team fees and we truly want to keep our program accessible for everyone! To reflect our high hopes for a great season this year, we’ve set a goal of raising $2,023. Please consider sUPporting our online fundraiser. Go Warriors! ~Coach MK (MacKenzie Wild) ~Coach P (Petra Mallon) ~Coach K (Kristina Maher) Who is managing the campaign? Kristina Maher

We don’t know about you, but we’re feeling 2022!! The Waunakee Middle School Dance Team is a newer extra curricular activity offered to 7th and 8th graders. We had our first season in 2019 with 12 dancers! Sadly we didn't have a season in 2020 due to Covid-19, but we made a come-back in 2021 with a team of 17. This year we’ve had a lot of interest- we’ve seen about 17 new faces and have 14 potential returners. It’s very exciting to see a desire for our program and offer an activity where middle schoolers can express themselves, make new friends, be part of a team, and build confidence. We welcome students that love to dance or want to learn how to dance. Throughout our season we'll learn a hip-hop and pom routine, work on strength and flexibility, as well as dance tricks and skills. The team will showcase their hard work by performing at local basketball games and competitions across WI. We're lucky to have a strong high school dance team that will offer mentorship and encouragement to our dancers along the way. This program will also help prepare dancers that are interested in trying out for the high school team. As our team size increases, so do our overall expenses. We are raising funds to cover the cost of competition fees, poms, dance uniforms, team bonding events, and an end-of-season celebration for all. Fundraising for these team costs offsets the team fees and we truly want to keep our program accessible for everyone! To reflect our high hopes for a great season this year, we’ve set a goal of raising $2,022. Please consider donating to our fun online fundraiser. The cost is $20 per person and the class size is limited to 50 participants. CLICK ON THE GREEN "REGISTER FOR EVENT" BUTTON ABOVE TO REGISTER AND SECURE YOUR SPOT! FAQ’s: Do I need to register? Yes! Please register yourself and any family members or friends that would like to come. We are limiting participation to 50 people and registration is the only way to secure your spot. There is a $20 fee per person which benefits the Waunakee Middle School Dance Team. Thank you in advance for your support! Can anyone take this class? Anyone age 12 and up is welcome! Class discussions will be kept appropriate knowing there are younger participants in the audience, but don’t worry about your age or fitness level… all will learn something and be able to follow along. What should I wear? Wear clothes and shoes you are comfortable moving in. This is not a workout class and we don’t anticipate getting sweaty, but it’d be helpful to wear something you’d go for a walk or do yoga in. What should I bring? Bring yourself in comfortable clothes and shoes! Bring your registered family or friends! Also bring a water bottle. :-) What will I learn? This class is scheduled for one hour. A large portion of time will be spent talking about ways to stay safe as being aware of your surroundings is a great form of defense. We will also teach a few very simple moves that should be easy to remember long-term. We’ll have time for questions at the end. Where do I go once I get to the middle school? The class is being held in the Waunakee Middle School Gym at 1001 South St, Waunakee, WI. Please enter through the gym entrance at Door #11, on the side of the building that faces the High School. There is plenty of free parking (lot C is the closest), but note there is a Boys Lacrosse home game that evening in the nearby stadium. How can I learn more about Moh’s Martial Arts? Moh’s Martial Arts offers classes for those ages four through adult. They also offer adult kickboxing classes! Visit their website at https://www.mohsmartialarts.com/ to learn more. How can I learn more about the Waunakee Middle School Dance Team? The Waunakee Middle School Dance Team is a newer extracurricular activity offered to 7th and 8th graders. We had our first season in 2019 with 12 dancers! Sadly we didn't have a season in 2020 due to Covid-19. But we're back in 2021, and to celebrate all the good things coming back this year we're hoping to raise $2021 for our team! We welcome students that love to dance or want to learn how to dance. Nobody is cut during tryouts; there is a place for everyone! Throughout our season we'll learn a hip-hop and pom routine, work on strength and flexibility, as well as dance tricks and skills. The team will showcase their hard work by performing at local middle school basketball games and competitions across WI. We're lucky to have a strong high school dance team that will offer mentorship and encouragement to our dancers along the way. This program will also help prepare dancers that are interested in trying out for the high school team. As a new organization, we do not get school funding for the first three years outside of bus transportation. Funds raised will help the middle school team offer this newer program at a low cost to those who are interested. Our goal is to cover the cost of competition fees, poms, dance uniforms/costumes, shoes, garment bags, team backpacks, one team potluck, etc. We want to make the middle school dance team accessible and sustainable. Please consider donating to help us offer this creative outlet for middle school students where they can express themselves, make new friends, be part of a team, and build confidence. Go Warriors!

This is not a traditional “fundraiser” in that the Cheerleading team is NOT banking any money raised. All dollars raised will be used to purchase face-masks and the contributor will receive a face-mask and a 2nd face-mask will be donated to one of three Charitable organizations in Waunakee (Waunakee Neighborhood Connection, Waunakee Food Pantry & St Vincent De Paul) to be able to distribute free of charge to their clients.
